Nairobi Urban Farmers

Ruth Kamau - Strawberry Fields Forever

Ruth Kamau recognized that urban farming would tranform her life while taking a course at Mazingira Institure. The afternoon her classes finished she was planting a crop and making plans. She talks about her joy now that she can produce her own food and generate income through the sales of her chickens and eggs.

But Ruth's big plans have to do with strawberries. She has mapped out huge areas of her garden for the delicious, red jewels. The strawberry cash crop will make a big difference in her life.
